PIT BULL SITTING ON ROAD FOR MONTHS IS RESCUED
A pit bull in Ohio named Raylan, who was known for sitting by a telephone pole as if waiting for someone, was finally caught and now has a chance at living in a permanent home.  He is friendly, obeys commands, and had been fed by area residents since last October.  Here’s the story from the Mansfield News Journal:

The dog, who apparently was fed and looked after by area residents, was known for sitting next to a telephone pole by Ohio 430 near the campground. He could be seen watching traffic as if he was waiting for someone, said Missy Houghton of the Humane Society of Richland County.
“It’s common belief he was dumped,” she said. “Someone made a shelter for him underneath a pontoon (boat) on the ground, with blankets and a plywood windbreak.”
***
Given the name Raylan, the frisky dog was happy to follow commands, sitting and giving his paw to Houghton and humane society staffer Tammi Rex, who gave him some chopped ham. Houghton said the dog is housebroken and knows the words “potty” and “byebye.”

This seems like another case of a good dog who was abandoned by his owners.  Fortunately for Raylan, he’s on the road to a new permanent home.  Kudos to the people who fed him and gave him a chance.  Click here for the full story. Judging from the photo above, Raylan is clearly able to show his appreciation.
